Recyclables Collection Day
It's 38 degrees and dry at 5:30 a.m.
The Forecast from YNN:
"Pleasant Today, Warming Up
Despite the chilly start today, it will be a rather pleasant day with plenty of sun which should help boost temperatures into the middle and upper 60s.
Closer to Thursday and Friday we’ll have to focus in on some extra moisture trying to push in from the south. At this point, it looks like this moisture will present itself as additional cloud cover with our weather staying dry. Highs for each of these days are expected to be above average in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
Although it’s still a ways out, the weekend forecast is shaping up to be pretty nice with highs in the low 70s."

My pictures from the last couple of days.
Monday morning started out with "high wind" warnings and then "tornado" warnings. Sidewalk displays at Merri-Rose and Morgans were quickly taken inside or lashed down!
But by yesterday morning, although parked cars* blocked most of the views, I could tell that everything was back in place, outdoors.
As it had turned out, Waterville never experienced either the heavy rains or high winds that had been forecast and decorations like these at the Brouillettes' on Barton Avenue ....
... or the Neffs' on Berrill Avenue do not appear to have been disturbed at all.

Twice, yesterday afternoon, I did a "stop, turn around, go back" maneuver:
Just south of "the caves," where the DOT did so much work rerouting Big Creek a few months ago, something else was going on. I slowed down and asked the flag man what it was and, over lots of background noise, he said that they were installing (something?) that would "make it better for the fish and fishermen!"
It had been shady near Forge Hollow, but in a swampy area next to Route 20 between Sangerfield and Madison Street, the afternoon sun shone like a spotlight on the berries of the Black Alder or "American Holly." That was my second turn around / go back / take a better look, and it was worth it!

FOR THE RECORD
* About cars parked on West Main Street: customers and merchants are frustrated because two or even three of the already limited number of parking spaces in front of businesses are being taken up by vehicles that remain in place days at a time. There are no signs indicating that there is a parking limit of so many hours or minutes, but it's been suggested that a mention of this problem in the blog might reach the right people and ask them to be more considerate of others.
(I think there might be a bit of the same problem on East Main Street, too!)

Have a grand day, everyone!!
