The Weather Forecast from YNN:

A Few Scattered Showers , Cooler Late Week

"We’ll be watching a cold front approach from the west today which will provide us with a few scattered showers. Despite that, temperatures should still manage to climb into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees with the help of a southerly breeze.

Showers riding along the front will track to our east early Thursday morning and as a cooler air mass starts to settle in there will likely be a little bit of lake effect that tries to get going during the day with highs in the low/mid 60s.

The overall weather pattern is expected to stay unsettled for Friday as some extra moisture slides in from the southwest toward the end of the week. Looking ahead to the weekend, it seems as though it will start to feel a bit chilly with highs forecast to be in the upper 50s."

IN THE MAIL

These photographs and story sent to me by Bonnie Mae Padula:

Paige is 12 years old and is a 7th grader at Waterville Jr. High.
Rocco is 9 years old and in 4th grade at Memorial Park School.

"This past summer, the Padula family traveled to Syracuse, Fonda and West Springfield, Massachusetts to participate in horse show competition.
The 40th Annual Syracuse International was held 6/26-6/29 and was open to Morgan, Saddlebred, Hackney & Fresian horses.

Paige Elizabeth and Rocco Anthony rode their homebred Stockwell Spellbound (age 20!) to several ribbons. Paige exhibited in the Walk Trot 11 & under division while Rocco rode in Leadline 8 and under.

Next on the schedule was the Eastern District Morgan Society Open horse show held in Fonda, NY on August 3-4th. At this event, the kids advanced into challenging new divisions. In addition to Fitting & Showmanship, Paige rode in English Pleasure & Equitation 17 & under and Rocco followed suit in Walk Trot 11 & under Pleasure & Equitation. Hard work paid off and both traveled home with ribbons.
The Massachusetts Morgan Show is held in West Springfield, MA from August 20-24.  The Mass Show is one of the largest Morgan horse competitions on the East coast.
Paige and Rocky faced challenges and persevered making their family so proud. The feeling of accomplishment as the young riders turned in great performances was a memory they will not soon forget. Paige captured the reserve Junior Exhibitor 13 & under English Pleasure championship. To celebrate the culmination of a successful show season, Bonnie & Rocco Padula (parents) surprised Paige & Rocky with a custom advertisement in Horse Show wire. Horse show wire is an e-magazine and has over 10,000 subscribers world-wide."

Yesterday, Here & There

New decorations on East Main Street.

A new sign in the Park .....

....... and a new sign on the steps of SouthGate Ministries on East Main Street.

At St. Bernard's Church the masonry forms seem to grow taller and taller .....

... but, looking closely, it appears that the gently sloping accessible sidewalk is ready to be poured.

In the field between Bogan Road South and Madison Street, there were at least a hundred Canada Geese, resting, and right in the middle of the gaggle were four Snow Geese!
Perhaps more will come!
