Garbage Day today
53 degrees at 5:30, dry and no rain on the radar.

The Weather Forecast from YNN:

"Quiet Today, Showers Return"

"Today will be a nicer day area wide as it will be dry and warmer with highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
We’ll be watching our next storm system move in from the west on Wednesday. Any morning sun will give way to clouds and be accompanied by developing showers/storms (especially through the afternoon and evening). Despite that, temperatures should still manage to top out in the upper 60s."

The Photos You're Waiting For!

 - with great thanks to Jody Hildreth, who has shared these and eighty-three more of his photographs of the WCS Drama Club's presentation of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" on Facebook, HERE, and also at Shutterfly.

From my Camera: just a few shots -

Over the weekend more and more strung-out heaps of leaves lined streets. Although soggy from yesterday's rain, they'll dry out fast and the Village's super-sized Leaf Vacuum will come along and scoop them up from the Tree Belt (or Terrace.)

Down near Forge Hollow, where the DOT spent a great deal of time rerouting Big Creek during the Summer, even more work has been done with even more man-power and lots of logs. The results are hard to see from the road, but presumably the trout will enjoy the several new "pools" created for them!

Even on gray days, the tiny blossoms on Witch Hazel trees next to the Marshall Trail and in other woodsy areas are bright....

and Hallowe'en witches and friendly ghosts are appearing here and there throughout the Village - like these on West Bacon Street.

Cheers! to the painters whose work has made the Victorian trim on the 140-year-old Swanberg Home look as good as new!

IN THE MAIL

From John (Jack) Brouillette:  "Seneca Foods notified us this morning that they will not be taking any more green beans this year.

I would like to open the fields to the public to “help themselves”.   There are two fields North of Waterville near or on Hanover.  One is near the intersection of Peck and Brouillette Road off Hanover Green.   The other is down toward the intersection of Shanley and Hanover by the two ponds.   If possible, please post and let bloggers know.   Sadly, they will be tilled under in a few days.   They can contact me at 427-4741 for additional information."

I'm pretty sure that the "day-glo" flags have been put there to show you the fields to which he is referring.

Thank you, Jack!
