Here are your October Calendars!

Click HERE for Interactive Calendar

and please note:

The Library is introducing a new series of movies - the best of the "oldies" and the kind "they don't make 'em like that any more!"

After a repeat showing the the contemporary film, "42" the Jackie Robinson Story on Friday the 4th, will be "Casablanca" on the 11th and Alfred Hitchcock's "Sabateur" on the 11th.

These showings take the same time slot as previous used by "The Old Timers' Story Swaps" and - not coincidentally - will appeal to the same age group!

ALSO!

Waterville Book Discussion Group
will meet on Wednesday, Oct 23rd
at 12 noon, in the meeting room at the Waterville Public Library.
Bring your lunch;  coffee, tea, dessert and lively discussions are offered.
This month's book is "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Sacks," by Rebecca Skloot.

You may reserve a copy by calling the Library at 841 4651.

"Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells—taken without her knowledge—became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first “immortal” human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than sixty years.
The story of the Lacks family is inextricably connected to the dark history of experimentation on African Americans, the birth of bioethics, and the legal battles over whether we control the stuff we are made of."

Bow Hunting Season begins on Tuesday.

Hunters know this, of course, but the folks who just like to walk in the fields and woods sometimes forget to add some red or bright orange to their outfits!
