"Bright Skies and Pleasant, Quiet Conditions for the Next Several Days

"Today we expect to see sun mixed with a few clouds and despite the frosty start, temperatures will make a pretty decent recovery into the low 60s.

Over the next several days, no major storm systems look to impact us and high pressure will dominate through the end of the work week and into the upcoming weekend. During this time period we’ll see plenty of sun accompanied by a gradual warming trend.

Temperatures on Wednesday will be a bit more seasonable with highs in the upper 60s, climbing into the low 70s by Friday and highs are forecast to be in the mid 70s this weekend.

Yesterday - the first day of Fall

First stop:  checked on Bittersweet near the corner of College Hill Road and Skyline drive.  It'll be a while, yet.

Then west on Route 5 to see if the old Hinman Farm produce stand was open - sadly, it was not......

........... so I took a few side roads to North Star Orchards on Route 233.  I had been looking for a big bag of my old favorites - "Spy Gold" apples. They didn't have that variety, but now I have a new favorite" Honey Crisp"!

(Huge, compared to Macs or Cortland - and awkwardly juicy!)

Back over the hills, stopping at the Landis Farm on Shanley Road.

Then back to Waterville and west on Route 20 to do some shopping at The Kountry Kupboard which is right next to Earley's, where this display of pumpkins and mums was too pretty to ignore.

I had been keeping my eye out for wild mushrooms/puffballs and scarlet Woodbine.  No mushrooms, but I found this pretty bit of vine climbing a small length of stockade fencing next to Ken Paulson's Garage on Conger Avenue right here in Waterville.
