8:00 a.m. Update:
WATERVILLE CSD IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE DAY.
7:25 There's very little accumulation, but a shiny icy coating on everything.
It's Recycling Day
31.6 degrees at 5:00 a.m.
It sounds windy and gusts blow sleet against the windows.
YNN School Delays.
The YNN Weather Forecast: "Mixed Precip Today, Remaining Unsettled Through the Rest of the Week.
Rain and wet snow showers continues today so be prepared for slick roads and slow travel. Highs will be in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. Breezy to windy conditions as well.
Unfortunately it won’t be a fast moving area of low pressure meaning scattered wet snow showers stay in the forecast right through Thursday with temperatures topping out in the upper 30s. As this system pulls away, a colder air mass looks to filter in toward the tail end of the week and into the weekend with highs only in the 20s both Saturday and Sunday. There will also be some lake effect setting up which should gradually taper heading into the early part of next week."

"On Wednesday evenings we will gather in Paris for soup, salad and bread at 6 PM, followed by a video presentation and discussion with Phyllis Tickle. She offers a straightforward, fresh perspective, which is guaranteed to be both provocative and comforting."

The crew from Mohawk Valley Living, owned and produced by Lance and Sharry Whitney and hosted by actor and playwright, Richard Enders, will be in Waterville visiting the Historical Society, the new Observatory and several other places, today. Be sure and give them a big wave if you see them!

Speaking of waving to people .....
After over thirty-two years with the USPS, Sangerfield Postmaster Joan Wittenbeck will wave to Post Office customers for the last time on Friday.
About her retirement: "It's time, but I'm going to miss all the wonderful people!"
- And we'll all miss you, too, Joanie!

Well, they're not pussy willows or snow drops, but the next best: the first plant to show itself in the Spring - Skunks' Cabbages!
There's a wheelbarrow in the sidewalk showroom at Morgan's and I bet that rakes and garden spades will be added to the display any day now.
IN THE MAIL
- From Gregory C. Stevens, San Diego, CA
"It is sad to see the old barn (at the corner of Putnam and Elmwood) being torn down! That was my playground for most of my childhood. I still remember when we moved into that house in 1978. I enjoyed playing basketball in the loft with my brother and pretending to be pitching for the New York Yankees as I threw my nerf ball against the side of the barn. Oh the memories!!" (Thanks, Greg.)
