It's Garbage Day

46 degrees with bright sunshine at 6:30 a.m.

The WKTV Weather Forecast: "A large blocking pattern in the jet stream will allow for dry, mild, sunny weather to last for the rest of the week into the weekend.  The only fly in the ointment will be to see a few extra clouds tomorrow as a weak wave passes east.  High temperatures today, and over the next several days will be in the 70s with overnight lows in the 40s.
The next chance of measurable rain is on Monday and Tuesday."

A brief obituary appearing in this week's edition of The Waterville Times notes the recent death of Charlemagne Tower, IV, of Simi Valley, California.  He was seventy-nine years old.  Many older Watervillians remember "Pete" although he, his sister Helen Tower Brunet and their parents moved from Waterville in the 1950's.

The Memorial Bandstand - pretty as a picture!

Looking west from the top of Grant Hill,  green and glorious!

Trailing Arbutus, Ground Laurel or "Mayflower," found hiding beneath last autumn's brown leaves in the Rome Sand Plains.
Searching for these tiny, but fragrant, rare little blossoms on May Day is a favorite tradition.

BLOG VIEWS FOR THE WEEK

I have heard from blog readers in most of these countries, so I know who they are, but I am still mystified by the number of "hits" in Russia and Poland. If you have time to write to me, using the link on the right-hand side of this page, I'd appreciate hearing from you.  PsBrown, Waterville.
