It's Garbage Day

23 degrees at 6:30 a.m.

The YNN Forecast as of Sunday afternoon: "We will finish the weekend with scattered snow showers and chilly conditions. A bit breezy as well. Highs in the upper 20s and low 30s over the next couple of days.

Tuesday looks to be a day of improvement as any lingering snow showers come to an end and clouds mix with some sun. Temperatures should be more seasonable with highs in the mid to upper 30s. Although it is still a ways out, it seems as though the storm system midweek will miss us to the south keeping our weather mainly dry. Stay tuned!"

A triple-layer treat on a gray day, this cheery group of  pink-cheeked, smiling Brownie Scouts and their moms outside the Nice 'n Easy minimart in Sangerfield on Saturday caught my attention right away!

I left with a couple of great pictures of them AND a box of "Thin Mints," of course!

You'll be able to find them - the girls and the cookies! - at either that location or Stewart's next weekend, too.

Wintery Views

The trees on hilltops near Bailey Lake were "frosted" with rime, yesterday.

Mount Hunger Maples.

Although it's been snowing off and on all weekend,  there really isn't enough cover to ski the Marshall Trail ....

.......... or ride the snowmobile trails.

The only place where I saw any amount of outdoor frivolity was that being enjoyed by a large group of mallard ducks
on the pond at the foot of Grant Hill.

 Q. What is a group of ducks really called?
A. badelynge, brace, bunch, flock, paddling, raft, team

("Paddling" is preferred.)

Did you watch "Mohawk Valley Living" on Sunday morning?

If not, you can see the program in its entirety, right now, by clicking this link:

The crew visited the Waterville Historical Society,

....  the Waterville Baptist Church .....

........... stopped to chat with their friend, John Lincoln-Lovely, at his emporium, "Sticks 'n Stones," on East Main Street......

...... before going to the New York Pizzaria to chat with Frankie and have lunch. (The shots of the pizza, "riggies" and salad will make you hungry!)

They made several other stops and then Library Director Jeff Reynolds took them to the new Observatory to show off  the world class 16" Meade Telescope.

If you watched Mohawk Valley Living you'll already know the date and time of the "Very Special Event" that I've mentioned a few times in recent weeks -

The Dedication of the Observatory
will take place on the afternoon of
 Friday, June 21st.

(Now you can save the date!)

A nice note from Linda Plourde, who wrote:  "Just wanted to let you know that we enjoy the pictures for both of the reasons you mention.  I love showing people here what a real snowplow looks like (here in Northern VA they have modified landscaping trucks, that have plows 6-12” off the ground).   (Thanks, Linda!)

I also had a note from a traveling businessman who wrote that when he's away he enjoys seeing pictures of Main Street because then he can tell if his office manager is at work!  (Said with a smile!)
