Recyclables Collection Today

29.3 degrees at 6:00 a.m.

WKTV's Weather Forecast:  "A storm system will impact the Mid Atlantic on Wednesday.  The storm may be close enough to bring us clouds and a flurry or two on Wednesday.  The storm is forecast to stall in the Atlantic, and absorb upper level energy from the northwest on Thursday and Thursday Night, bringing Central New York additional light snowfall.  The storm's impact will be over by late Friday, with a return to sunshine and highs in the upper 30s.
A taste of early spring this weekend, with high pressure bringing sunshine and milder temperatures.  Saturday morning's parade starts out with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 30s.  By the afternoon, temperatures will climb into the mid 40s.  Upper 40s, perhaps 50 is possible by Sunday afternoon!
The next weather system arrives early next week, bringing rain, followed by some snow showers."

"Rusty" sent me this March 6, 1947 article from The Waterville Times. Perhaps there are some blog readers who remember the storm?

Yesterday Afternoon

Frost still clung to treetops on the hills east of the Village .....

.... but the sun was bright enough to make wonderful shadows on the snow next to Fuess-Cleary Road .....

............. and melt the ice over the little Gridley-Paige waterfall.

Snowbanks melted. Walkers, runners and bicyclists were out ..........

.............. the "sidewalk showroom" on West Main Street seemed larger and brighter than usual ....

............. and new St. Patrick's Day flags appeared.
