It's Recycling Day

 29 degrees at 5:00 a.m.
with just a hint of winter precipitation.

The Forecast from YNN:  "An area of widespread/steady snow is expected to become more scattered and taper during the second half of the day. With temperatures warming into the mid and upper 30s there may be some rain/sleet that tries to mix in. The best chance for a few inches of snow (2 to 4 inches) by the evening will be for areas south and east-southeast of Syracuse.

We turn our attention to a cold front Thursday which will not only provide us a with a few snow showers but also allow for a noticeably colder air mass to settle in for the rest of the work week. Highs on Thursday and Friday will only be in the mid to upper 20s.

Temperatures look to rebound to near 40 degrees Saturday under partly sunny skies but a second cold front is forecast to swing through Sunday with another round of unsettled weather and even colder temperatures heading into next week."

Yesterday

West Main Street looked more like a normal Sunday afternoon.  Perhaps villagers share my daughter's notion that the bears may be right about winter-long hibernation!

Folks at Morgan's, though, are never sleepy:  the sidewalk showroom was ready just a few minutes after 8:00.

There is plenty of open water on the pond, but no mallards.

Surprise! Two or three sap buckets have been hung on the old maples at Liseli Haines' home on Austin Road.

Could any of the "old timers" help?

Where, on "Mill Street," (now Buell Avenue) was there a large stone building that was once a distillery - apparently not the one in "Whiskey Hollow" -  but one that in 1947 was owned/used by the NY State Gas & Electric Company? Would that be approximately where The Home Shoppe is now located?

And  - a local craftsman asks: Does anyone remember seeing a picture that would show what color the Bissell store was?

I know some of you will have answers: Thank you!
