It's Garbage Day.

36 degrees and overcast at 8:00.

"Big Creek" lives up to its name!

YNN's Weather Forecast: "Thursday will be very windy and colder with temperatures falling from the 30s into the 20s. Sustained winds between 25 and 40 mph are likely with gusts between 50 and 60 mph possible. Scattered snow showers are possible Thursday with steadier lake snow setting up east of Lake Ontario.

Friday will be brisk and cold with localized lake snows.  Highs by then will only be in the lower 20s.  Seasonably cold weather will stick around through the weekend and into at least the first half of next week with some minor snow from time to time."

Yesterday was another gray-colored day.

Between the sudden shot of nearly 60-degree warmth and a day-long rain,  plenty of water collected on top of what ice remained on the pond at the foot of Grant Hill.

The Oriskany at the Dugway was "Spring Flood" full ......

........  and water rushed from the McAdam Pond as fast as the little waterfall would allow.

Main Street at 5:00.  Unfortunately, my camera was getting foggy, and I missed a good photograph of two runners who, though dressed in shorts and T-shirts and soaking wet, were still smiling.

Waterville Book Discussion Group.

"Defending Jacob" by William Landay
is the book of the month for February.

The group will meet in the Meeting Room at the Waterville Public Library on Wed, Feb 27 at 12 noon.
Pack a lunch, dessert and beverages are served.
Call the Library at 841 4651 to reserve a copy of the book.

"A fast, compelling, and compulsively readable courtroom drama, Defending Jacob tells the story of a district attorney’s son who is accused of killing a classmate. As the father attempts to prove his son’s innocence, Landay explores uncomfortable territory: can a tendency toward violence be inherited? Is the capacity for murder a genetic disposition? The author, a former district attorney, gets the taut nuances just right, capturing the subtleties of a trial in a packed courtroom, where a small rustle or murmur can signify a lot. In the end Landay pulls off a clever plot device that doesn’t reveal itself until the final pages."
