It's Garbage Day
34 degrees and no precipitation at 6:00 a.m.

Here's the YNN Weather Forecast:

"Flurries and Drizzle, Turning Milder for Midweek

Nuisance precipitation will flip back over to sprinkles, before coming to an end by this evening. Otherwise cloudy and seasonable today.

An area of low pressure will pass by well to our southeast Tuesday leaving us with a break in the precipitation.

We'll see a push of warmer air for the middle of the week as an area of low pressure tracks into the Central Great Lakes. This will also bring the threat for showers beginning late Wednesday afternoon."

Here & There

My thanks to MaryBeth VanDenbergh for sending these two pictures and the accompanying cutline.

"The Deansboro Parks and Recreation Committee and Barton Hose Fire Department have a community tree in Deansboro. The tree, which was donated by Massoud's Tree Farm in Sauquoit,  was lit on Saturday. Hot chocolate, coffee, cookies and candy canes were enjoyed. Community members added ornaments to the tree."

Although I did not go to the Parade on Friday evening ( it was so darned cold, and I know from experience that when it's like that neither I nor my camera do at all well) but I have roamed around the Village and community several other times in the past few days.

I think it was on Friday afternoon that I found decorating in progress at the Vaughans' home on White Street.

Even on Sunday more adjustments were being made to the display at the Verdons' on Putnam ...

...............  and this smiling couple on East Bacon Street, recognizing the blog car,  shouted "Oh! It's not done!  Come back later!"
(I will!)

Elsewhere on E. Bacon Street, the decorations on the Briggs' front door were perfected several days ago ...

......... as were those at Terry and Roger Tanner's out on Route 20 in Pleasant Valley.

I'm sure you can guess where these next pictures were taken:

Also in Pleasant Valley, I stopped at Alcott's .......

.............. where fully-decorated trees covered with ornaments you know you want filled one room ....

................... and Poinsettas, Cyclamen and lush greenery filled  another.

Back in Waterville I found a rare parking spot right in front of Morgan's Hardware and made it mine!

If you can't find seasonally-favorite gifts or decorating supplies here ......

...............  I don't know what you could be looking for! (Except fancy clothes, maybe, and super-new electronic/digital gizmos.)

But there are Christmas lights, lights and more lights and - of course - the always handy year-round-usable gifts like shiny new Coffee Makers, Cordless Drill Kits, painting and plumbing supplies and everything else from Hack Saws to Hammers, and don't forget Jumper Cables - just in case!

Merri-Rose and "Sticks 'n Stones" were closed, yesterday, but I'll visit them today!

SPECIAL THANKS  -

 - to the "Elves" who, every year, hang greens and velvet bows on the Memorial Bandstand!

-  and to Jeff Reynolds who sent this spectacular photograph of the Crab Nebula taken at the Barton-Brown Observatory on that very cold Friday night by Don Yacco and Jim Dulak of the Mohawk Valley Astronomical Society. (Click to enlarge!)

Blog reader "Heather" left this query in the blogger's mail:

"I was wondering if you knew when the Rotary was going to be caroling at the Harding Nursing Home this year?
My children participated last year and would like to do so again!"

The answer was in The Watervillian - the Rotary newsletter:

"The Club will go Christmas Caroling through Harding Nursing Home at 5:30 PM on Dec. 19th.  Larry (Hitchcock) is coordinating the event."

 Have a good day, everyone!

Tomorrow is BIG TRASH DAY!
