HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome to

"At Home in the Huddle 2013"

**************

Welcome to Winter, too!

This is what my lawn chairs looked like on Saturday evening: upholstered!
Beyond the chairs, to the right, you can see my "snow stake."  There was just about one foot of snow when I took that picture; the next morning most of the yellow stripe was covered, too!

The shrubbery in from of Bonnie Bechy's home on Babbott Avenue looked like frosted cupcakes!

Rime covered trees on Craigfoot Hill ............

............... and the hills east of the village shone like silver in the afternoon sun.

The weekend snow changed the scenery, once again, in Hanover ........

.......... and brought out happy snowmobilers ........

........  who rode the well-packed trails ........

and cautiously crossed Route 20 to gas up and grab a soda.

All the roads and streets were clear by Monday afternoon ......

............. and the snowplow drivers worked to clear or push back snowbanks to allow easier parking.

I took this picture just because I remembered that I'd  done the same on...

New Year's Day 2007

Today it's 29 degrees at 6:15.

The Weather Forecast from YNN:  " .....A Very Chilly Start to the New Year

Overnight will feature snow showers and a few areas of heavier lake effect squalls as an approaching cold front pairs up with some  additional moisture to the south. The best chance for a few inches of new snow by Tuesday morning will be east of Lake Ontario with the potential for 2 to 4 inches (locally higher amounts possible across some of the higher elevations). Lows will be in the 20s. Scattered snow showers continue into New Year’s Day along with chilly and brisk conditions. Temperatures will be dropping through the 20s but wind chills are expected to be in the single digits and teens!
No major storm systems will have an impact on our weather in the near future; however, a few disturbances passing to the north should keep a few snow showers in the forecast through the rest of the week. Temperatures also look to be at least 10 degrees below average with highs only in the low to mid 20s."
